Evan Borg Succumbs to Heart Trouble
Funeral Services Held at Family Residence Tuesday
The funeral services over the remains of Evan Borg, the 18 year old son of O.P. Borg who died of heart disease last Saturday, were held at the family residence on Tuesday at 11 o'clock with Bishop G. W. Coons conducting the services.
The high school choir furnished appropriate music, the selestions being: "Jesus Lover of My Soul", "Lead Kindle Light", and "Love's Old Sweet Song," and Kenneth Hood, one of the decedent's high school companions, sang "O My Father" in a most feeling manner. Addresses were delivered by Chris Peterson, J.J. Hayes and Bishop Coons, and all bore testimony in the high character of the young man who had been snatched at death at the time when life's flower was opening to it's ripest and most beautiful condition.
There was a large attendance of neighbors, friends, and high school classmates of the young man.
Evan Borg entered the freshman class of the high school at the opening of the last school year. While always suffering in body his mind was active and he was an excellent student as attested by all his teachers. He was of an unassuming character, and a lovable disposition and his loss will be felt by all his associates.

Obituary for Edith Evalina Borg
Funeral Held in California for former resident
Funeral services for Edith Borg Wilkinson, former resident of Salt Lake City, who died at her home in Redondo Beach, California, were conducted Thursday, October 1, at the Grace Chaple in Inglewood, California.
A native of Richfield, Mrs. Wilkinson resided at Bingham Canton and later at Salt Lake City, prior to moving to California.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund S. Wilkinson, a son , Edmund S. Wilkinson Jr., two sisters, Edna of Redondo Beach and Mrs. Adolph Nielson of Richfield, and three brothers, Ferd and Hans of Richfield, and Dan of Gunnison. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Nielson went to California for the funeral.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 9, at 12 Noon in the Gunnison L.D.S. chapel. Interment will be in the Richfield Cemetery.

Jack W. Borg was born in Richfield, Utah, on March 29, 1916, son of Hans and Martina Borg. He was one of four children with an older brother, Edwin, older sister, Iola, and baby sister, Gayle. In 1928, The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he graduated from West High School in 1936.
Jack was introduced to financing in by his favorite uncle Al Manning, joining Al's team at Household Finance Co. (HFC) in 1937, and continued in consumer financing all of his life. This career journey, spanning over 50 years included serving as second vice president in installment loans at Continental Bank and Trust Company. His extensive community service activities included serving as President of the Credit Bureau's Board of Directors. After retiring from Continental Bank, Jack became an account executive at the Credit Bureau of Salt Lake City.
Jack met his bride, Dorothy (Thomsen), at her place of employment, Hayes Brothers Studebaker. They were married April 5, 1952. They shared a love of dancing, especially to one of favorite songs, "Mack the Knife." Jack also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and golf, but his pride and joy was his wife Dorothy. Together they cherished annual visits from their four children and two grandchildren. After 50 years together in Utah, Jack and Dorothy relocated to New Mexico to live with their daughter Heather and family friend, Rachelle in 2002.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Holly (Ken) Kowall of St. Louis, Heidi (Paul) Frank of Portland, OR, Dr. Heather Borg of Bosque Farms, NM, and Bruce of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Elizabeth Erdman of Los Angeles and Benjamin Erdman of St. Louis; sister, Gayle Groo of Provo, UT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack passed away quietly from pneumonia complications under hospice care in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 14, 2004. Thanks to the ARMC Hospice staff for providing wonderful care to Jack. A private gathering celebrating Jack's life will be held at daughter Heather's, home in Albuquerque at a later date. Jack's gone fishin'

Jack W. Borg was born in Richfield, Utah, on March 29, 1916, son of Hans and Martina Borg. He was one of four children with an older brother, Edwin, older sister, Iola, and baby sister, Gayle. In 1928, The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he graduated from West High School in 1936.
Jack was introduced to financing in by his favorite uncle Al Manning, joining Al's team at Household Finance Co. (HFC) in 1937, and continued in consumer financing all of his life. This career journey, spanning over 50 years included serving as second vice president in installment loans at Continental Bank and Trust Company. His extensive community service activities included serving as President of the Credit Bureau's Board of Directors. After retiring from Continental Bank, Jack became an account executive at the Credit Bureau of Salt Lake City.
Jack met his bride, Dorothy (Thomsen), at her place of employment, Hayes Brothers Studebaker. They were married April 5, 1952. They shared a love of dancing, especially to one of favorite songs, "Mack the Knife." Jack also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and golf, but his pride and joy was his wife Dorothy. Together they cherished annual visits from their four children and two grandchildren. After 50 years together in Utah, Jack and Dorothy relocated to New Mexico to live with their daughter Heather and family friend, Rachelle in 2002.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Holly (Ken) Kowall of St. Louis, Heidi (Paul) Frank of Portland, OR, Dr. Heather Borg of Bosque Farms, NM, and Bruce of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Elizabeth Erdman of Los Angeles and Benjamin Erdman of St. Louis; sister, Gayle Groo of Provo, UT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

New software
Sence 2001 I've used two database software to help keep track of our research. Program #1 is Family Search's Personal Ancestral File (PAF) and program #2 has been Family Tree Legends (FTL). FTL has been a good program except for one thing. I've lost contact with Pearl Street Software and that means no support. No support for thier website, GenCircles, and the software. After one year with zero support I've went for a change. My choice after looking at many programs is Roots Magic and it has been a good choice. If you are looking for a genealogy software program there is two I would recommend. PAF5 has always worked well for me. RootsMagic4 sofar is doing a great job and there is plenty of support out there for this program. There is a blog for Roots Magic 4 that might enterest the reader, http://blog.RootsMagic.com . Richfield Baseball Team of 1910
Back row second from left is my Grandfather Hans E. Borg. Hans played ball for the Richfield, Utah City Team for several years. I understand there is a picture of Hans in his Baseball uniform, dating 1902, hanging on a bank wall in Richfield. I've written to the banks in Richfield, Utah for verification, however non have ever written back.
