Jack's gone fishin'

Jack W. Borg was born in Richfield, Utah, on March 29, 1916, son of Hans and Martina Borg. He was one of four children with an older brother, Edwin, older sister, Iola, and baby sister, Gayle. In 1928, The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he graduated from West High School in 1936.
Jack was introduced to financing in by his favorite uncle Al Manning, joining Al's team at Household Finance Co. (HFC) in 1937, and continued in consumer financing all of his life. This career journey, spanning over 50 years included serving as second vice president in installment loans at Continental Bank and Trust Company. His extensive community service activities included serving as President of the Credit Bureau's Board of Directors. After retiring from Continental Bank, Jack became an account executive at the Credit Bureau of Salt Lake City.
Jack met his bride, Dorothy (Thomsen), at her place of employment, Hayes Brothers Studebaker. They were married April 5, 1952. They shared a love of dancing, especially to one of favorite songs, "Mack the Knife." Jack also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and golf, but his pride and joy was his wife Dorothy. Together they cherished annual visits from their four children and two grandchildren. After 50 years together in Utah, Jack and Dorothy relocated to New Mexico to live with their daughter Heather and family friend, Rachelle in 2002.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Holly (Ken) Kowall of St. Louis, Heidi (Paul) Frank of Portland, OR, Dr. Heather Borg of Bosque Farms, NM, and Bruce of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Elizabeth Erdman of Los Angeles and Benjamin Erdman of St. Louis; sister, Gayle Groo of Provo, UT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack passed away quietly from pneumonia complications under hospice care in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 14, 2004. Thanks to the ARMC Hospice staff for providing wonderful care to Jack. A private gathering celebrating Jack's life will be held at daughter Heather's, home in Albuquerque at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family request donations sent to the American Diabetes Foundation. Fish Lake is calling...
